Performing Arts

Alamo City School understands and supports "Arts" Education through several different venues. Alamo City School has always had art, music, chorus, cheer/dance team and in the last decade a very active Children's Theatre Program. For 13 years Alamo City School has mounted an annual musical production that involves over 50 4th,5th and 6th grade children, the latest production being "Disney's Little Mermaid Jr". Each year "Alamo School Performing Arts" plays to sell-out crowds and enjoys accolades from audience members. The exceptional talent of the students of Alamo City School has been noted several times in newspaper, television and radio. As a result our students become confident in all aspects of their life. Students are interviewed on television, radio and newspapers through publicity tours promoting their school production. Few public elementary schools in the state have a Children's Theatre Program of this caliber available to its Students. Alamo City School is very proud of its Arts heritage which stretches back several generations.

Red Devils 2016 Season Outlook

The 2016 Alamo Red Devil campaign will kick off on Saturday, August 27th at 10:00 am in Jackson against the TCA Lions. The 2016 version of the Red Devils are looking to rebound from a 5-3 season a year ago, in which all three losses were by a touchdown or less. “Last years team seemed to be snake bitten in the close games,” said Coach Brooks Rawson. “We just couldn’t get the big play or the big stop late in the games that we are used to getting.”

This year’s team will rely on some experience that doesn’t come around often. “When you are talking about a 5th and 6th grade program, you usually don’t talk about experience returning,” Rawson said. “But this years group had several that contributed a lot in last years varsity games.” Red Devil returnees with some varsity starts under their belt are LeAnthony Cathey, Zachary McLilly, Colyer Blackwell, Rilei Smith, Haydn Moten and Landyn Gibson.

Mason Nolen will lead the team out of the huddle as the QB for the varsity team. Other 6th grade names to look for will be Lawson Bailey, Billy O’Brien, Ty Middleton, Luke Uselton, Brody Saylors, Justin Petges, Will Holyfield, Hudson Freeman, Berkley Pettigrew, Luke Riley, Mason Taylor, Jovann Aguirre, Mason Brauer, Skyler Martin, Joquavious Morgan, Bo Woods and Cash Piatt.

Returning for his 11th season on the Red Devils coaching staff will be Richie Lowery. Nate Lowery will enter his 6th season working with the Red Devils offensive and defensive lines. Brooks Rawson will head up the team for the 10th consecutive year. The coaching staff has helped the program achieve a 67-4 record over the last 9 years together.

The first home game of the season will be Tuesday, August 30th with a 5:15 kickoff against Chester County. The Red Devils host the 10th annual Play Day on September 10th and close out the season against Crockett County on September 29th at 6:00 at Cavalier Stadium in the annual Cotton Bowl. Make plans to support the 2016 Alamo Red Devils.
